Tips Before You Buy a New Appliance

We at A B Appliance Services focus on Major Appliance Repair and we thought it was important to inform the public that the new appliances out there are not lasting as long as the appliances that were built 10 to 20 years ago. Our owner Andrew Burke has been repairing appliances for over 20 years and has noticed that these newer appliances are not built to last. It does not matter what brands: Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Maytag, Jenn Air, Kenmore, Roper, Amana, Admiral, Magic Chef, GE, General Electric, Hotpoint, Frigidaire, Tappan, Gibson, Hamilton, Norge, Westinghouse, White Westing, Crosley, RCA, Electrolux, Caloric, Speed Queen, Hardwick, Modern Maid, Thermador, and Kalvinator.

“Our belief is that an older, well maintained appliance that is repaired will out way the cost of a new appliance purchase no matter what brand you’re looking at…”

Before you buy a new refrigerator, washer , dryer , dishwasher, or stove, keep in mind that almost any appliance you buy today will have an electronic control board in it and the more gadgets the refrigerator, washer, dryer, or stove have the more things that can go wrong with it. If your appliance is in good condition and has been well maintained then you should consider repairing your appliance. Have Appliance Services Houston come give you a quote, and while we are there we will go over any preventative maintenance you can do.

3 Tips Before You Buy a New Appliance

Here are some tips for those of you ready to purchase a new appliance anyway:

  1. First, if you’re in the market for a front load washer they do save a lot of water, however, you MUST be sure to purchase the appropriate detergent which is the “he” not 2x, 3x or 4x. If the wrong detergent is used it is likely you will have major problems with your appliance.
  2. Second, do a little homework, research the appliance you’re going to buy, do a search online about the appliance to see if other customers are having a problem with it, and don’t just look at one review page.
  3. Third, when you’re at the check out ready to pay for your new appliance their going to want you to purchase an extended warranty on the appliance, if you don’t have a home warranty that covers your appliance’s and you are spending a lot of money on the appliance you should get the warranty.

Our belief is that an older, well maintained appliance that is repaired will out way the cost of a new appliance purchase no matter what brand you’re looking at… ( Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Maytag, Jenn Air, Kenmore, Roper, Amana, Admiral, Magic Chef, GE, General Electric, Hotpoint, Frigidaire, Tappan, Gibson, Hamilton, Norge, Westinghouse, White Westing, Crosley, RCA, Electrolux, Caloric, Speed Queen, Hardwick, Modern Maid, Thermador, and Kalvinator.).
